Evidence that Fran never lets up

To celebrate the New Year, I thought I'd select a post from each month of 2013 for you to browse through while you drink port and contemplate your fifteenth turkey sandwich of the season.

And this might be a good time to ask regular followers to say, in a comment, which kinds of posts you like the best.  I've been writing this blog for six years now and, very rudely, have never asked .....

In January, I was given a 'snow day' off school.

In February, I made a bread and butter pudding.

In March, I had moved on from thinking about puddings to pies

In April, Cinderella met the Three Little Pigs

In May, I met the most disgruntled waiter in the world.

In June, I wrote about how to write satirical articles

In July, I kicked my shoe into the middle of the road.

In August, I was in Malvern on holiday and took some beautiful photos of the surroundings

In September, I stunned the world by writing about sport

In October, I was trying to distract myself from fear before a gig

In November, I rewrote some song titles and made them less enthusiastic

In December, I realised I needed new glasses (and still haven't booked the appointment...)

Happy New Year to all my followers, and a big thank you for staying with it, even when the going gets tough.

The July (shoe) one really make me laugh, but like the others I love your blog. It cheers me up on bad days and improves the good ones. You are a very funny lady Fran Hill and the world needs more of you. Keep doing what you do best during 2014 !!

  12. Happy New Year!

My favourite types of blogs are the ones about your everyday experiences, either by foot or public transport, either with grouchy waiters or at rainy, chip shop proficient holiday resorts. I discovered your blog last year and bought your Being Miss ebook (the very first one I bought). I grew up reading Anthony Buckeridge and Frank Richards, so your tales of strange boarding school antics are very nostalgic for me. Have you considered adding a bit more fantasy to your stories, in the way of Jennings and Bunter? There must be a market out there for them, even if you have to resort to magic, wizards and such! I believe they are quite popular.

Much success with your blogging and books in 2014.

    1. I really like the idea that mine was the first e-book you read! Thanks for your comments ... I might consider resorting to magic and wizards, as you suggest, as J K Rowling doesn't seem to have done too badly by doing so ....

  13. I like lists. Less a comment on your blog than a terrible confession of just one of my unwholesome predilections. But I like a list in a blog. However, all your stuff is grand so don't be pandering to MY whims!

  14. I too enjoy them all but perhaps most of all the ones with a wee challenge to think up a book title or whatever. Happy New Year, o Franous One.

    1. Hm ... there speaks The Retired One with the time to do the challenges! But you're right - if I set a challenge, I often get a lot of responses. Happy new Year to you too.

    2. Oh, it doesn't take much time to come up with my rather feeble suggestions! And indeed I'm not so much in need of displacement activity as I was when I was working. Though right now I ought to be practising the piano... .

  15. I've got new glasses, and disconcerted to realise what a big difference, that small difference made. Not wearing them now ... I prefer my home world a little blurred around the edges. But when people are around I like to see what they are saying.
