Reasons to drink champagne at 10.30 at night

I'm a Grandma to Elijah Matthew Hill!

He took his time, and it was a difficult birth for his poor mum, so he is spending the night in Intensive Care to sort out his breathing.  But he's here.

It won't be long before I can entertain little Elijah with my special brand of bedtime story.  Whoop whoop!  Won't he just LOVE them?

  12. Congratulations. However wouldn't it be grand if we shared the traditions they have in some parts of the world where you name a newborn after significant events of the time. Then it could have been Libor Matthew Hill and you really would have had a good excuse for getting the Bollinger out.

  13. I ought to point out, perhaps, that the picture above is not Elijah Matthew Hill. I can see how regular readers might make the mistake of thinking that anyone in my family was particularly mature, grown-up and sensible.

  15. congratulations to everyone...hope you soon get to give him a cuddle! I am just relearning how to deal with " the terrible twos", hopefully better than I did with her Dad, my eldest. Such fun!

  16. Apropos Alan's suggestion, how about Olympic Jubilee Hill?

But Elijah is a lovely name, and this is great news, Fran. What will you be called?

  17. Just wanted you to know that my brother joined you in the ranks of grandparenthood, about 1/2 an hour after you. Can't wait to ring him up and make inappropriate jokes about his age....

  18. Thank you for all your lovely comments (and suggestions for alternative names - it's just as well it wasn't me choosing as he would have been called My-Gran-is-the-best Hill).
